Vermont Knitting Getaways start on Wednesday and end on Sunday after lunch. However, you may choose your arrival day, Wednesday,
Thursday or Friday, as long as you stay 2 or more nights. Over the years folks have had so much fun that most come for three nights
and many for 4 nights. The price includes your accommodations, meals and all knitting classes.
Our knitting retreats are very relaxed with informal classes featuring a class project or knitting technique. Classes are based on attendees suggestions. A small sampling of the classes held over the years are: lace knitting, entralac felted bags, brioche knitting, cabled hat, color
techniques, various sock techniques, sweaters: start to finish. You are not required to take the classes if you would like to just enjoy the company of folks sharing your same passion for knitting. The Vermont Knitting Getaway retreats average between 15 to 25 participants. And, due to the intimate size of the group, you are welcome to bring your own projects and receive individual knitting asssistance. There is but one requirement and that is you knit an item for donation to a local charity. The item can be for a baby, child, adult, man or woman.
The Vermont Knitting Getaways are led by Susan Vaiciulis. Sue's background - "I've been knitting for about 60 years, learning new techniques myself and passing on that knowledge. I owned and managed a yarn/knitting store in Brattleboro, Vermont for 17 years, teaching classes in knitting and crocheting. Please call or email me for further information and to register."

Accommodations and Meals: your home away from home is the
Mountaineer Inn nestled in the gorgeous Green Mountains of Southern Vermont. The atmosphere is that of a traditional ski lodge complete with antique skis and snowshoes on the walls, large fieldstone fireplaces in the public rooms
(where you will gather to knit, chat, laugh and snack) and plenty of room to spread out. Breakfasts are cooked-to-order, lunches are served buffet style and dinners are 4 courses with your choice of entree each evening.
The Inn is BYOB, allowing you to bring your own spirits if you so choose. Each evening prior to dinner the Innkeeper, Ned Wilson, entertains you at the piano with show tunes and popular music.
He's discovered that knitters can knit and sing at the same time without dropping a stitch! Visit the Mountaineer Inn's website for further information and directions.
